La Graptemys Caglei è una piccola (maschi 12 cm e femmine 8 cm) tartaruga originaria del Texas. Il colore del carapace è verde, ecco perchè viene anche chiamata "green map turtle", gli scuti, soprattutto quelli marginali e i pleurali presentano i caratteristici disegni a cerchi concentrici delle map turtle e come tutte le Graptemys ha na carenatura centrale, ma non molto accentuata, il piastrone è color crema con appariscenti segni scuri sulle giunzione degli scuti.
